Nutraceuticals - a natural part of modern healthcare
ICMAN5
  Overview   Print

Welcome to Queensland – and the International Conference on Mechanisms of Action of Nutraceuticals.

Now in its 5th year, the ICMAN Conference will be held in Brisbane, Australia on 13 -15 October 2010.

ICMAN5 is set to attract leading national and international researchers, clinicians and pharmacists as well as industry and government leaders, to discuss the latest developments involving nutraceuticals in basic research and clinical applications relevant to the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases and conditions; and the impact of these results on the development of therapies through plenary sessions, breakout seminars, posters and trade exhibitions.

Location: Brisbane is located in the south-east corner of the state of Queensland, which sits on the eastern sea-board of Australia. Queensland has a vision for its future, encompassing a diverse economy powered by bright ideas, a population with the best health in the country, an environment and a lifestyle that’s well protected, an education and training system that’s world-class, and a community that’s safe and caring.

As one of Queensland’s key industries, the life sciences sector and in particular the therapeutic and diagnostic subsector, has a pivotal role to play in achieving this vision. The Queensland Government has been working very closely with Queensland Clinical Trials Network Inc. and our universities and companies to build this sector of the industry – from funding research, through to getting products to market.

Although the Government provides substantial assistance to the industry (more than $3.4 billion since 1998), ultimately the future of Queensland’s life sciences sector depends on private sector investment and engagement – including from international collaborators – wherever they may be.
